11:00 o'clock a.m.on Saturday April 10th for a Celebration of Life and Headstone Dedication Ceremony in honor of Captain William Latane' 9th Virginia Cavalry, Company F "Essex Light Dragoons"
Capt. Latane's death was the only Confederate fatality which occured during J.E.B. Stuart's famous ride around McClellan's army in June of 1862. A historical marker was placed many years ago in the corner of the Summer Hill Plantation graveyard where he was laid to rest, but until this time the gallant Captain himself has not had a permanent headstone.
