JV Girls Volleyball vs Cosby
The Varsity Cavalier Field hockey team has several things going for it. A new school and field to play on. A seemed renewed enthusiasm from the home fans and a win in overtime 3 - 2 over James River that seemed to pump new life into a team that already had plenty of life in it. The Rapids struck first against the Cavs' scoring with just over eight minutes left in the first half. The sidelines of Clover Hill grew louder. With time running out in the first half Katie McGee feeds the ball off the end line to Emily Ott who feeds it directly into the goal and the sideline of the Cavaliers was filled with ear splitting screams. The teams go to the halftime break tied at one all. It was again James River that found the goal first in the second half. The sidelines grew louder but Cover Hill coach Rhonda Clopton began to pace. The sideline still was filled with the screams of those watching on. The Rapids attack was strong in the second half but the Cavs' were playing strong defense. With six minutes left in the game the ladies in green and white took advantage of a corner shot passing it around the top of the scoring circle until it got to Maria May who delivered it in to tie the game at two all. Need I say the sideline screams were again .....should I say Loud. Those noises were nothing to compare though to the volume level of those that were to be heard in overtime when Katherine Peachee sent in the game winning score for Clover Hill. Yes my friends it was a frenzy of noise was only muffled by the ground as the team formed into one big heap on the field. The fans on hand still kept the noise flowing from the other side of the fence and a team celebrated on.
